Dana Laursen, BA

Associate Care Advocate & Advance Care Planning Lead

Dana is an Associate Care Advocate and leads the Advance Care Planning (ACP) Program at GreyZone.

As an Associate Advocate, Dana is an integral part of the team. She works alongside clients and GreyZone advocates to obtain and organize information, help with care coordination and offer overall hope and support to GreyZone clients in need.

Being a Certified Mediator Practitioner and a Clinical Facilitator in Advance Care Planning Dana was the natural choice in our team for spearheading and leading our ACP program. Each of her specialized skills come together to serve GreyZone clients with compassion and expertise. Dana walks clients through the challenging discussions with their loved ones on defining the care they would like to have, and selecting a healthcare proxy, in the event they are unable to decide for themselves.

Dana enjoys being an active listener with a passion to understand the exact needs of her clients. She finds the greatest satisfaction when getting opportunities to overcome difficult challenges on behalf of health compromised clients who run into roadblocks on their own.

Service to others is very important to Dana outside of her work at GreyZone, as well. For over 20 years, she has enjoyed various positions of leadership with non-profit organizations serving youth and families experiencing hardship related to family dynamics, and lack of resources. Her volunteer work has most recently taken her to Bolivia. She currently serves as the Board Chair of the Niños con Valor Foundation, which helps orphaned children in Cochabamba, Bolivia, facing challenging medical conditions.

In her previous life in the world of ultrasound technology, Dana performed ultrasounds to diagnose cardiovascular conditions. Additionally, at Pacific Vascular, she held a leadership position as the Marketing Manager where she was also responsible for organizing community vascular screenings.

Dana’s holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University. She has also received certification training as a Mediator Practitioner and as a Registered Vascular Technologist.

Dana is most relaxed playing tennis, taking walks with friends, skiing and doing home improvement projects. During quiet moments Dana finds joy making a cozy fire and watching movies.
